VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES

Together Everyone Achieves More

COVID - 19 LOCK DOWN

There is a local group from Camp Hill - Guardians of Stubbs Pool who are taking referrals and delivering packs of food and essentials to the elderly, lonely, disabled and those isolating in the Bedworth and Nuneaton areas. They have delivered to one elderly lonely gentleman some jigsaw puzzles. Currently it is costing the group £500 per week . In order to help them continue their sterling work, they have set up a Go Fund Me page on Face Book where you can make financial donations. They are also welcoming food donations. These can be dropped off in the Community Centre which is based at the back of St Mary's church in Manor Court Road. The Centre is open from Monday to Friday, 10.30am 1- 12.30pm. All donations are gratefully accepted.

PERIOD POVERTY Following on from the national outcry regarding Period Poverty, The Treacle Tarts linked with a group called The Red Box Project (http://redboxproject.org) who help women/girls throughout the country have free access to sanitary wear. Red Boxes are allocated within schools and colleges and with voluntary contributions of sanitary wear, tights and pants help girls and women to stay in school/college/work rather than miss out. Every month the Treacle Tarts donated sanitary wear.

Period Poverty is now a government project largely thanks to the efforts of all women who have pushed for this via projects such as Red Box. A big thank you to everyone who donated throughout 2019.

Nuneaton Food Bank - Each year the Treacle Tarts donate non perishable food items to the Nuneaton Food Bank. In October 2019 we donated 32.4kgs of food. This meant that from the beginning of September, the Food Bank were able to offer 3 days of food for 681 people which included 229 children.
